OQT is governed by its Board of Directors (the Board), whose constituents include representatives from the government of Oman as the ultimate shareholder, as well as the parent company and independent industry experts in the fields of commodity trading and finance/risk management within the commodity trading business. The Board is provided with extensive authorities relating to risk management, finance, compliance and new business, which enable oversight and guidance of OQT activities independently from those of the parent company. Such standalone governance is important to facilitate the agility, flexibility and requisite control levels for a trading business whilst shareholder representation ensures continued alignment with shareholder interests.
Responsibility for oversight of the day-to-day commercial and related operational activities rests with OQT’s five-member Executive Management Team (EMT), which comprises individuals with in-depth industry knowledge and experience. Representation from across different segments of the product portfolio and trading regions ensures that OQT can operate with a global perspective on industry developments, risks and opportunities.
